Inception (2010)

Movie Overview

Inception was destined for greatness…[I say this not because I love Christopher Nolan, Ken Wantanabe and Joseph Gordon-Levitt] but considering Nolan’s track record it’s hard to image that after such a string of successful plots, superb casting and mind boggling visuals that all of a sudden he would mess up! Instead, this director takes his audience literally above and beyond which unfortunately confuses some individuals. If you lack imagination then will find it difficult to grasp the uncanny concept of this film… Conceptually I think this movie's plot is genius and I am seriously wondering what drugs Nolan is into…… I’ve seen several interviews of the cast and it seems a though the actors themselves were confused by the plot [at first] but overall if you are open minded and sharp you should [operative word there again is SHOULD...] thoroughly enjoy this film.

Rating - On a scale of 1 to 10 [ ten being the highest] I give this film a 8.9

District 13 and Flame & Citron (Foreign Flick Favs)

Very Brief Movie Overview
Caution - This movie is a foreign film [French to be exact]so I watched it with subtitles but I do know that a English re-dubbed version is available and its definitely worth your time. This movie is refreshing, gritty, fast paced, action packed, high energy and very satisfying … If you don't enjoy this film you should get your vitals checked!

Rating
On a scale of 1 to 10 [ ten being the highest] I say this film deserves a solid 7

Movie Overview
I like to call this film the ultimate Dutch martyr bad ass flick – The actors were so convincing they made me want to sign the dotted line and pick up a gun for the cause… just kidding … I can’t get over the quality of this film, the quality of the acting, the costumes, the scenery, everything was so well executed... If you like period war movies based on real events with lots of gun action and blood then you are going to love this!

Rating
On a scale of 1 to 10 [ ten being the highest] I say this film deserves a 7.5

Final Thought
- My favorite Dutch actor [Mads Mikkelsen] stars as Citron in this film and I will never forget the scene where he levitates off his hospice bed and starts lighting up the Gestapo... Good stuff  :)

Brooklyn's Finest

Movie Overview
This film has all the right ingredients but the wrong chefs interfered with it and ultimately the climax sucks ! The suspense builds steadily, the tension is heart wrenching, but not even numerous strong, arresting performances by powerful lead actors [such as Richard Gere, Wesley Snipes etc]could save the failure of an ending... All that build up and the plot just went 'splat' literally and everything just sprays a bloody mess all over your screen… all the wrong people died and I was left feeling robbed and wanting the time I wasted watching this rubbish back…

Rating
On a scale of 1 to 10 [ten being the highest] I say this sorry a$$ flick is a 4

The Green Zone

Movie Overview
The Green Zone was not exceptional or rave worthy...Via my standards this movie was just average – nothing is particularly good or bad about this movie … The plot is based on actually events (which I liked), there is ample amounts of suspense and the action is decent, the lead actor [Matt Damon] definitely did not disappoint. However, at the end of the movie I was not thoroughly entertained. I wanted more... somethings were lacking... so I would recommend this movie if you are bored ...knock yourself out.

Rating
On a scale of 1 to 10 [ten being the highest] I give this film a 5

Ip Man 1

Brief Summary
Ip man is based on the life of Master Ip (Bruce Lee’s teacher).

Rating
On a scale of 1 - to [ten of course being the highest] Ip Man deserves a 9.5

KICK UP GALORE :) humor, drama and AN EPIC FINALE

Movie Weaknesses
NONE

Final Thoughts
If you have Netflix or if there is a Foreign movie vendor in your local mall this movie IS A MUST SEE. If you enjoy watching martial arts films this is the cherry on top of the BEST Sundae EVER. The hostile historical backdrop evokes just the right amount of sympathy without being too overbearing. I applaud the director; he masterfully blended bone crunching action, with a sprinkle of drama, topped with stellar performances from the lead actor (Donnie Yen). If you are not a fan of ‘kick up’ flicks I guarantee that after seeing Ip Man your interest in this genre will be peaked and/or you will probably threaten or at least attempt [and fail miserably] to use the moves in this film on somebody....its a lot harder to replicate than it looks... and yes I am talking from experience!
